During summer of 2020, I wanted to challenge myself to do Dassault Systèmes's 21 years of Model Mania by completing the designs from each year (2000-2020) in 21 days. I recorded the time it took to complete each model. Model Mania can be found at https://blogs.solidworks.com/tech/2020/03/20-years-of-model-mania.html
I will be continuing this every year and hopefully in the future I be able to compete in the Mania
The build and simulation took 16 minutes. Factor of safety was 2.6 and I was only off by 0.1 comparing with the solution video of 2.5 that SolidWorks provided. The Mass was exact as the solutions
The build and simulation took 13 minutes. Factor of safety was 3.3 and it matched up with the solution video that SolidWorks provided
Phase 1 took 26 minutes, and phase 2 took about 12 minutes
Phase 1 took 32 minutes, and phase 2 took about 16 minutes
Phase 1 took 30 minutes, and phase 2 took about 18 minutes
Phase 1 took 48 minutes, and phase 2 took about 23 minutes
Phase 1 took about 37 minutes, and phase 2 took about 24 minutes. Phase 2 made the extruded cuts into revolved cuts
Phase 1 took 20 minutes, and phase 2 took little longer with 28 minutes
Phase 1 took 24 minutes, and phase 2 took about 8 minutes. This was a fairly easy part. The only major change was the outer radius
Phase 1 took 32 minutes, and phase 2 took 22 minutes
Phase 1 took 30 minutes, and phase 2 took 20 minutes. This was similar to 2010 model
Phase 1 took about 30 minutes, and phase 2 took 20 minutes. Phase 2 required an extra part to be added
Phase 1 took me 28 minutes, and phase 2 took 16 minutes. This part was made with just 1 extrusion and 1 extruded cut with fillets. Phase 2 required editing the top profile
Phase 1 took 38 minutes, and phase 2 took 12 minutes. Phase 2 required a simple simulation
Phase 1 took 43 minutes, and phase 2 took 18 minutes. This is the first Model Mania year where the simulation portion was included on the 2D drawings
Phase 1 took 30 minutes, and phase 2 took about 10 minutes. This was a fairly easy part
Phase 1 took 26 minutes, and phase 2 took 6 minutes. Phase 2 was simple with 2 drafts feature
Phase 1 took 20 minutes, and phase 2 took 12 minutes. This part was simple, using extrusions, aloft and revolve cut
Phase 1 took 48 minutes, and phase 2 took 36 minutes. After figuring out the from offset extrude cut it made phase 2 simple
Phase 1 required 60 minutes, and phase 2 took 30 minutes. Phase 2 involved flipping the rib to the other side of the part. I was able to do this without any additional sketches by changing the plane it was drawn on
Phase 1 took about 40 minutes using the Drafts and Shells tools to model the part. Phase 2 took 20 minutes, it was longer because it needed a few different configuration variants of Phase 1
Phase 1 took 92 minutes and required some troubleshooting. Dimension was missing for the rib. Using the video for that particular reference. Phase 2 took about 12 minutes to make the modifications
I completed the design for Stage in 60 minutes, and I finished the modifications for Stage 2 in 10 minutes
